Salute Your Shorts

Sometimes when I step on the scale, I feel like the guy in the purple jersey in the pic below...


That's right...Donkey Lips from the critically acclaimed show "Salute Your Shorts."

Here are three attributes about Donkey Lips that I would like to NOT have in common with him...

I played racquetball with Beetle Hale on Saturday for a couple of hours--and during that time I lost four pounds. I know...it was water weight, blah blah blah. But the fact is, when I stood on the scale afterward, I was four pounds lighter than before--thus, I am adding racquetball to the Flan Challenge as an official weight loss exercise.

In an effort to avoid disapointment, I will be weighing myself just once a week (Saturdays).

Current Stats

Weight: 224.5 (I gained back three of the four pounds I lost Saturday)

Foods eaten: So much garbage on Saturday night, it's embarrassing to list. I also had a nasty enchilada from Los Hermanos today for lunch (don't go there ever).

Back With the Mass Destruction

"Guess who's back? Back again...Flanny's back, tell a friend."

Just like Marshal Mathers (Eminem), I'm back.

It's been a long time coming, but I have decided to pick up the Flan Challenge once again.

Like Michael Jordan returning to the Bulls. Like Chevy Chase returning in anything National Lampoons. Like Sly Stallone returning as Rocky and Rambo in the same year.

And of course, "just like the prodigal son, I've returned." (thanks House of Pain--pictured below).

For those of you who aren't familiar with the Flan Challenge--allow me to explain. In the summer of 2008 I was fat. I weighed in at 238 pounds and was a tub of lard. I decided that it ended then!

I started the Flan Challenge blog to make me more accountable to my peers and people who read the blog. I got myself down to 214 pounds and was feelin' pretty good about myself. I ran a half-marathon, did some triathlons and was just a lean fella.

I got comfortable with myself, had some injuries and let myself go. Currently I'm about 220 pounds, but after I gorge on pizza tonight during the Jazz game (Go Jazz) I will be close to 225 pounds--so we will call it 225 to start off.

My goal is to reach 200 pounds by Christmas of 2010. Following that, I plan to get under 200 for just a bit before settling at a comfortable weight of 203-205 pounds.

My hope is that all who read will help keep me on track and will not enable me to find my old, eating ways.

So, with April 29 approaching (Thursday), know that the Flan Challenge will be up and running full speed ahead!

Current Stats:

Weight: 225
Foods eaten today: Hostess donuts, 3 lifesavers, some vanilla wafer cookies, and a Diet Pepsi. Also, pizza tonight during the Jazz game (Go Jazz)!!!
